On November 20, 1982, down by 1 pt with 4 seconds left, California used 5 laterals on the final kick-off to win 25-20. Made famous by the fact the Stanford band had marched onto the field thinking the game was over.
The trombone that gets bent at the end of the play (played by a flattened Gary Tyrrell) is currently residing in the College Football Hall of Fame.
